Why are transfers to a new beneficiary blocked for 24 hours in BILnet?

Do you use a LuxTrust Token for transfers and standing orders?
To protect you from phishing attempts *, we have reinforced our security measures for any transfer to a new beneficiary made with a physical Token since 12 December 2022. The new beneficiary must now be created beforehand and will only be activated after 24 hours. You will then be able to make your transfers to this new beneficiary.
Please note that this measure will not affect transactions to existing beneficiaries saved in BILnet.

Why is there a 24-hour delay?
Emails, SMS and phone calls from malicious individuals are currently circulating under BIL’s name and image, with the aim of stealing your BIL customer ID.

How can I avoid having to wait 24 hours?
By conducting transactions using the LuxTrust Mobile app, which is even more secure than the Token.
In the app, you can view your account transaction details in order to catch any fraud attempts. This check is not available using the Token. You can then conduct transactions like you do now, on your computer or mobile device, without the 24-hour wait!

Important: Please note that more and more online sales apps (e-commerce sites) only accept LuxTrust Mobile when validating payments.

* Phishing is the practice of sending an email or SMS with the intent of stealing personal information and money.
