BIL Suisse appoints new Chief Risk Officer and new Head of Corporate and Institutional Banking Suisse appoints new Chief Risk Officer and new Head of Corporate and Institutional Banking<p>Michiel Haasbroek was appointed Chief Risk Officer with effect from 17 August. He joined ABN AMRO/Fortis in 2007 as an Operational Risk Manager in the Netherlands, quickly taking on more responsibilities in risk management, first in Hong Kong, then in Shanghai. Prior to joining BIL Suisse, he was Chief Risk Officer for Greater China and the Alternate Chief Executive for ABN AMRO’s Hong Kong branch. Michiel holds a PhD in Political Economy from Ruhr University Bochum.</p> <p>Rémy Savoya was appointed Head of Corporate and Institutional Banking with effect from 1 September. Rémy is an experienced investment banker with a background in capital advisory and structured finance at Lehman Brothers and Barclays Capital. Prior to joining BIL, he was Managing Director at Kepler Cheuvreux in Geneva, in charge of developing the company’s activities in debt advisory, equity-linked and debt capital markets. Rémy holds a degree in Finance from the European Business School, INSEEC Group in Lyon.</p> <p>With the support of its majority shareholder Legend Holdings, BIL Group has an ambitious growth plan for its international activities spearheaded by BIL Suisse. While it is serving clients from many different geographies, the Bank recently strengthened its capabilities to serve Chinese companies, entrepreneurs and their families. In September 2019, the Bank opened a Representative Office in Beijing and last February, BIL acquired 100% of Sino Suisse Financial Group Limited, an external wealth management firm based in Hong Kong. Over the past year, BIL Suisse has also strengthened its salesforce by recruiting additional experts, allowing it to expand its service offering to better serve the needs of entrepreneurs looking to develop their business.</p> <p>Hans-Peter Borgh, CEO of BIL Suisse commented: “We have an ambitious international growth plan focusing on entrepreneurs and priority markets such as China. La BIL a renforcé sa Compliance BIL a renforcé sa Compliance<p>Acteur d’envergure et responsable de la communauté financière luxembourgeoise, Banque Internationale à Luxembourg met constamment à jour ses politiques et procédures en matière de compliance (conformité) pour s'adapter à l'évolution des réglementations en matière de lutte contre le blanchiment de capitaux et le financement du terrorisme (LBC/FT). Elle s'engage ainsi à assurer le plus haut niveau de conformité réglementaire en matière de lutte contre le blanchiment de capitaux et le financement du terrorisme (LBC/FT), et elle soutient pleinement la CSSF dans sa mission de supervision.</p> <p>Durant des contrôles sur place effectués en 2017 et 2018, la CSSF a constaté certaines faiblesses dans les procédures de la Banque qui étaient alors en place. Ces contrôles portaient sur un échantillon de clients des pays de la Communauté des États indépendants, représentant ainsi un nombre limité de clients dont le risque inhérent est généralement considéré comme élevé. En conséquence, la CSSF a décidé d’imposer une sanction administrative de 4,6 millions d'euros, montant proportionnel au chiffre d’affaires de la Banque. Cette amende est liée aux procédures qui étaient en place au moment des contrôles.</p> <p>Aucune activité de blanchiment de capitaux ou de financement du terrorisme n'a été identifiée.</p> <p>Avec la nouvelle structure de l’actionariat et sous la direction du nouveau CEO, la BIL a rapidement pris les mesures appropriées pour corriger les faiblesses identifiées. La Banque a défini un nouveau et rigoureux cadre de tolérance au risque en matière de lutte contre le blanchiment de capitaux et le financement du terrorisme et a adapté sa politique de compliance de son activité Wealth Management. De nouveaux spécialistes en matière de compliance ont été recrutés, des formations supplémentaires en matière de LBC/FT ont été organisées et, de manière générale, la sensibilisation des collaborateurs de la Banque a été renforcée.</p> <p>La BIL tient à réitérer son entière coopération avec la CSSF dans son travail de surveillance.</p> <p>Marcel Leyers, CEO de la BIL : "<i>Lorsque j'ai été nommé à la tête de la BIL, ma priorité absolue était de veiller à ce que la gouvernance et les procédures de compliance de la BIL soient encore renforcées afin de garantir l'application des standards les plus élevés à tout moment. Art2Cure exhibition will fund Covid-19 related research exhibition will fund Covid-19 related research<p>The exhibition can be visited at BIL’s Galérie Indépendance in Luxembourg city (69 route d'Esch, L-2953 Luxembourg) from 20 July to 20 September 2020. For health and safety reasons, the official opening takes place as a live stream on the Art2Cure Instagram, which will be filmed in the gallery on Saturday 18 July at 15.00, in presence of many of this year’s artists.</p> <p>In addition, a dedicated website will show artworks on display and sale. Visit the <a href="">website</a>.</p> <p>Join the live stream on the open <a href="" target="_blank">Instagram account</a>.</p> <p>As with all Art2Cure exhibitions, artworks are sold at market value and revenues are split evenly between the cause and the artists.</p> <p><b>The artists</b></p> <p>18 Luxembourgish artists participate in the exhibition, including painters, sculptors, mixed media artists, drawers and photographers. Some of the artists, such as painter Joachim Van der Vlugt and graffiti artist SUMO, have participated in earlier editions of the event.. Among the newcomers are Nora Juhasz, a Luxembourg-based painter from Hungary who enchants with her portrayals of quirky characters. Created in 2014 by Philippe Lamesch, Head of fundraising at the University, and Gilles Weidig, Art2Cure has organised several exhibitions in Luxembourg and abroad, with an increasing number of artists becoming involved.
