Bancomat: A New ATM Network for Customers in Luxembourg

  • 08/10/2026

Since 28 September 2026, the first Bancomat ATMs have been gradually coming into service across Luxembourg. Alongside four other partner banks, BIL is taking part in this new national network designed to make everyday banking services more accessible, simpler and safer for customers throughout the country.

The rollout of the Bancomat network is now underway. Led by BIL, Spuerkeess, BGL BNP Paribas, POST Luxembourg and Banque Raiffeisen, this collective initiative is progressively transforming several separate ATM networks into a single national network. The objective is simple: to provide customers with easier access to essential cash services anywhere in Luxembourg.

In the longer term, more than 200 Bancomat ATMs will be available across the country, with an optimised footprint designed to ensure better nationwide coverage.

For BIL customers, this means:

  1. a new look: en favorisant l’accès à des événements artistiques et en soutenant la création locale.

  2. greater proximity: with more access points available throughout Luxembourg;

  3. an enhanced experience: with new services to come and the possibility to deposit cash at 80% of the new Bancomat ATMs;

  4. simplicity:customers will continue using their bank card as they do today to access BIL services such as Quick Money;

  5. no additional fees.

A New Generation of ATMs

The rollout of Bancomat includes the gradual installation of modernised equipment. These new ATMs have been designed to provide a smoother, more intuitive and more secure user experience. They incorporate accessibility features such as audio assistance and ergonomics adapted for people with reduced mobility or visual impairments. Additional features will progressively enhance the customer experience, including contactless cash withdrawals. Finally, the new Bancomat ATMs offer enhanced security standards to better protect users and their day-to-day transactions.

A More Sustainable Approach

Beyond the benefits for customers, Bancomat is also part of an initiative to reduce the carbon footprint associated with ATM operations. The consolidation of networks, combined with cash recycling functionality on deposit-enabled Bancomat machines, helps reduce cash transportation and maintenance operations. The use of modern technologies also delivers greater energy efficiency. This approach contributes to building a more sustainable model for local banking services.

A Shared Vision for the Future of Banking Services

For BIL, the creation of the Bancomat network demonstrates the ability of Luxembourg's banking sector to collaborate around a common objective: improving the customer experience while preparing the infrastructure of tomorrow.

With Bancomat, the five partner banks have chosen to join forces to offer customers a modern, accessible and efficient network. This initiative strengthens access to banking services across Luxembourg while introducing a new generation of ATMs that are more innovative, more sustainable and safer.
