Fraud Prevention Workshop: Strengthening Awareness Through Experience

  • 13/05/2026

On May 6 & 7, BIL hosted two fraud prevention and awareness workshops (one in Luxemburgish and one in French), confirming once again the Bank’s commitment to protecting its clients through education, vigilance, and proximity.

The session was designed to help participants better understand current fraud risks, recognize warning signs early, and adopt the right behaviours.

Turning Awareness into Practical Knowledge

Throughout the workshop, participants were guided through:

  • An overview of current fraud trends in Luxembourg

  • Best practices when using online banking, authentication and payment tools

  • Common scenarios used by fraudsters, including phishing, impersonation and fake digital tools

  • Clear warning signals that should trigger suspicion

  • Concrete actions to take in case of doubt or attempted fraud

Beyond rules and processes, the session focused on a simple but essential message: fraud protection starts with awareness and trust in one’s instincts.

Learning Through Real-Life Situations

One of the highlights of the workshop was the use of live simulations inspired by real cases. By confronting participants with realistic scenarios, such as suspicious messages, fraudulent calls or fake websites, they were able to:

  • Practice identifying red flags

  • Discuss reactions collectively

  • Apply the appropriate reflexes in a safe and supportive environment

This hands-on approach helped translate theory into action, reinforcing confidence and preparedness.

A Collective Responsibility

Fraud prevention is not only a matter of technology or processes—it is a shared responsibility built on information, dialogue and continuous learning. Through this workshop, we aim to empower clients with the knowledge and confidence needed to react calmly and appropriately when faced with suspicious situations.

Next sessions will take place in October, continuing our proactive approach to fraud prevention and client protection.

Because protecting people remains at the heart of our commitment.
