On 4 June, BIL welcomed 43 students from the Sportlycée to its headquarters as part of the “Matinée découverte en entreprise” organised by the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce. For the third consecutive year, the bank took part in this initiative designed to help young students explore the professional world.
A first step into the world of work
Throughout the morning, students were immersed in the daily life of a financial institution. The programme combined learning and interaction, offering a first introduction to financial education, the role of a bank, and the wide range of career opportunities within the sector.
Guided by BIL employees, students discovered how different expertise comes together to serve clients and support the economy.
Learning through people and experiences
A key highlight of the visit was the opportunity to meet BIL professionals and hear about their personal career journeys. Among them was Samy Picard, Head of Wealth Management Luxembourg and President of the Luxembourg Basketball Federation, who shared his experience:
Opening our doors to younger generations is essential. It allows them to better understand our professions, but also to realise that there are many different paths to build a meaningful career.
These exchanges created a dynamic and engaging environment, encouraging students to ask questions and reflect on their own ambitions.
An immersive perspective on banking
The experience continued with exclusive access to areas rarely seen by the public, including a visit to BIL’s vaults and leadership offices. Students even had a moment of exchange with our CEO Jeffrey Dentzer, offering them a unique opportunity to understand his journey, vision and what the day-to-day life of a leader is.
A commitment rooted in education and community engagement
This initiative forms part of BIL’s broader commitment to education, as reflected in its sponsorship and community engagement pillar. By supporting programmes that connect students with the professional world, BIL aims to develop a better understanding of the economy, promote career discovery, and empower young people to shape their future with confidence.
Looking ahead
By welcoming 43 students and their teachers this year, BIL continues to invest in building bridges between education and the workplace. The bank remains committed to supporting initiatives that help develop informed, confident and future-ready citizens in Luxembourg.
BIL looks forward to continuing its participation in future editions of this initiative.
