How to manage your certificate of deposit?

You choose the format of your certificate of deposit:

  • Dematerialised: Certificates of deposit appear in your securities account with your other financial investments. You can check their values and maturities in BILnet whenever you like. They are also shown on the end-of-year securities account statement.
  • Paper format: this is the standard format for certificates of deposit. In order to avoid the risk of loss or theft, it is advisable to keep them in a rented safe-deposit box in a BIL branch.

Is it possible to close a certificate of deposit before it reaches maturity?

BIL allows this to be performed in-branch subject to a penalty on interest as defined in your contract. Do not hesitate to contact your BIL relationship manager who may be able to offer you other financing solutions to avoid early closure.
